Mandarin Oriental to open its first hotel in Mallorca in spring 2026

HONG KONG – Mandarin Oriental has announced the opening of Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, marking the group’s first property on the Balearic island. The resort, located in Calvià near Puerto Portals, is scheduled to welcome its first guests in Spring 2026.

The new property is set along the Mediterranean coastline and will feature 131 rooms and suites, including 26 suites, nine casitas, 19 rooms and suites with plunge pools, and three rooftop suites with private pools. The resort will also offer multiple restaurants and bars, a dedicated wellness sanctuary, leisure facilities and curated guest experiences.

Designed as an intimate coastal retreat, the resort will provide uninterrupted sea views, landscaped gardens and access to two secluded coves. Contemporary architecture is combined with natural elements, with interiors incorporating hand-placed stonework, natural materials and neutral tones inspired by the island’s landscape.

“Perched on the iconic Punta Negra – one of Mallorca’s most cherished coastal landmarks – Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra draws deeply from the island’s timeless spirit. Every corner of the resort pays tribute to its heritage: the tranquillity of the Mediterranean, the strength of its landscapes, its artisan traditions, and the warmth of its people. Here, natural beauty meets contemporary, understated luxury, creating experiences that celebrate the true art of Mallorcan living.” said Duarte Correia, General Manager.

Art will form an integral part of the resort’s design, with curated works by local and international artists displayed throughout guestrooms, public areas, gardens and terraces.

Dining will be a central element of the resort, with several restaurant concepts planned. These include Matsuhisa, offering Nikkei-style cuisine; Leña by Dani García, a contemporary steakhouse; Jacinta, focused on Mexican flavours; Leppoc, an all-day dining venue serving Mediterranean and Levantine cuisine; Sobretaula, an alfresco tapas concept; and Aubara, a poolside restaurant and bar.

“In our kitchen, we prioritise quality and locally sourced ingredients. Each dish tells a story – of the product, the producer, its origin and the surrounding landscape. Inspired by the sea, the land and the simplicity of authentic flavours, we cook with respect and soul to delight and fully satisfy our guests.” said Sergio De La Plata, Executive Chef.

The wellness facilities will include a spa with nine treatment cabins, relaxation areas and signature treatments combining local traditions with Oriental wellbeing philosophies. Additional facilities will comprise outdoor pools for adults and children, an indoor pool, a fitness centre, and thermal and hydrotherapy experiences.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca will open in Spring 2026, expanding the group’s Mediterranean portfolio with a new coastal resort in Spain.
