Air Serbia continues its stable and sustainable growth trajectory, reinforcing its position as one of the most successful airlines in Southeast Europe. By 19 December, the national carrier had already transported 4.4 million passengers, exceeding the full-year result of the previous year almost two weeks earlier. This milestone reflects rising passenger demand, efficient fleet management, systematic expansion of the destination network, and the stability and growing recognition of the Air Serbia brand.
All current forecasts indicate that 2025 will be a record-breaking year for
the airline. Passenger numbers are expected to increase by three percent
compared to the previous year, surpassing the historic threshold of 4.5 million
passengers set by former JAT. This achievement carries particular weight given
that the former national airline operated within a significantly larger market
than the one Air Serbia serves today. Operational performance has also
strengthened, with more than 47,000 flights operated so far, representing a
four percent increase year-on-year, underlining the company’s resilience amid
challenging market conditions.
“This is a historic moment for our company. We have broken records and
shown that the domestic airline can compete with the leaders in the aviation
industry. The economic impact of Air Serbia on the total GDP of the Republic of
Serbia amounts to about 1.4 percent, which confirms the importance our company
has not only in air transport but also in the overall economic development of
the country. Our focus remains on the quality of our service, expanding the
destination network, and strengthening long-haul flights. Aviation is a dynamic
field, and Air Serbia is a strong and stable company that continues to grow.
Our goal is to welcome 2026 with even more ambitious plans and records,” said Jiří Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.
Route diversification has been a central pillar of Air Serbia’s growth strategy. Through the introduction of seasonal and themed routes, the airline addresses the needs of both business travellers and passengers with specific interests. This approach has enabled the carrier to open new markets, enhance business connectivity, and support inbound and outbound tourism flows.
Long-haul operations continue to gain momentum, with strong passenger
interest recorded on services to New York, Chicago, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.
The airline has also confirmed the launch of its long-anticipated direct
service to Toronto, with the inaugural flight scheduled for 23 May next year,
further strengthening transatlantic connectivity and diaspora links.
During 2025, Air Serbia expanded its network with six new destinations,
including routes appearing on its map for the first time as well as services
reinstated after multi-year suspensions. Looking ahead, the airline has
announced the introduction of six additional routes in 2026, aiming to cater
even to highly demanding travellers seeking more adventurous and diverse
destinations.
Taken together, these developments position Air Serbia not only as a
growing regional carrier but also as a strategic contributor to Serbia’s wider
economic and tourism ecosystem, as it prepares to enter 2026 with an
increasingly ambitious network and operational outlook.
