Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is ringing in Advent this year with a new social media campaign. ‘LXmas dalla Nonna’, which launches today, highlights the cultural commonalities that bind Switzerland and neighboring Italy, with a particular focus on their Christmas traditions.
The centerpiece of the campaign is a competition designed to unite families in and outside Switzerland. Anyone keen to enter can do so via SWISS’s social media channels. The lucky winners will be able to invite family members to Switzerland to spend the festive season together.
SWISS is marking the launch of ‘LXmas dalla Nonna’ in partnership with Switzerland Tourism at Rome’s famous La Rinascente department store. Seasonally decorated windows and lighting give the building a festive feel that brings ‘LXmas dalla Nonna’ to vivid and visible life.
The accompanying social media campaign will run throughout December on SWISS’s digital channels. A particular highlight is planned for 17 December, when the winners of the grand ‘LXmas’ competition and further invitees will be treated to a special SWISS Christmas Night.
Christmas magic above the clouds
SWISS will be creating an appropriately festive mood aboard its aircraft, too. On its Zurich-Naples flight on 5 December, St. Nicholas, a Swiss grossmutter and an Italian nonna will all ensure some seasonal moments above the clouds. And the ‘SWISS AirDeer’ will be riding the skies again: Airbus A330 HB-JHC and Airbus A320neo HB-JDH will be sporting red noses to carry the Christmas magic out into the world.
“We’re showing with our new campaign how travel creates connections between cultures and generations,” explains SWISS Head of Marketing Stefan Vasic. “When two grandmothers from two different countries embody the same sense of welcome and warmth, it reminds us why we fly: because it’s when we see each other face to face that we truly connect.”
