Experience The Best Of Caribbean Tourism As Leaders Gather In Miami For Major Event

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is excited to host the Caribbean Weekend Celebration from December 4 through December 8, 2025, in Miami. Over the four days, Caribbean tourism ministers, directors, industry leaders, and other stakeholders from the Caribbean will meet to hear about the developments in the tourism industry in the Caribbean and join in partnerships to devise new strategies to address economic growth and sustainability in the region.

Most of the activities will be focused on providing assistance and support to the people and communities of Jamaica and Haiti who are still suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa. There will be many activities planned to raise funds to help finance the development of the tourism industry in these hurricane-affected countries.

Helping those Affected by the Hurricane

An important part of Caribbean Weekend 2025 is the Fundraising Dinner on December 5, where they hope to raise $100,000 to support the CTO Foundation. This money will be used to support Emergency Humanitarian Assistance in Haiti and Jamaica for people who work in tourism and the local communities who have been severely affected by the hurricane.

The holiday dinner and fundraiser highlight the Caribbean region’s unity and togetherness, which the “CTO’s Secretary General ” and CEO have recognized. The holiday season and the support offered to Jamaica and Haiti while they are in the rebuilding and recovery phase are also an important reminder of standing together. All of this is a positive reminder of the strength and support the region has for each other in tough times.

Key Summit on Sustainable Tourism

An important part of the Caribbean Weekend is the “Reimagining Caribbean Tourism Together” summit, to be held on Saturday, 6 December, onboard Royal Caribbean’s” Icon of the Seas”. Sponsored by the Royal Caribbean Group, the cruise will host the most important summit to be held by the region’s leaders on the future of tourism in the Caribbean. The summit will primarily address innovative approaches to the sustainable development of tourism and the enhancement of the region’s economy.

The focus of the discussions will be on finding new ways of growing tourism while also finding ways to keep the environment safe. Also looking to find ways to share the benefits of tourism with more Caribbean communities. Addressing the consequences of climate change and other pressing issues like over-tourism, and addressing the involvement of local communities in the tourism sector is the goal of the summit.

During the weekend, participants will once again be allowed to visit the CTO Knowledge Exchange Kiosk, which will offer a multitude of the organization’s offerings aimed at providing support for the advancement of tourism in all its dimensions, the promotion of innovative ideas, and the attainment of a position of leadership in the area of sustainable development for tourism. The Kiosk will present some of the CTO’s contributions, primarily in training, and other capacity development activities which target participants in the tourism system in the diverse countries of the region.

Caribbean Media Exchange Leadership Awards & Fundraiser

The Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx) Leadership Awards & Fundraising event is on Sunday, December 7. This event is intended to honour those individuals and organizations whose work has been and continues to be of significant importance for the transformation of the Caribbean communities in relation to the intersecting strands of tourism, business, media, culture, and sustainable development.

The Awards highlight persons who have made profound contributions to the Caribbean. The Caribbean Development Impact recognises the contribution to the Caribbean Development Impact. With true caring for sustainability, community empowerment, and culture preservation, the region remains impacted. This is also an opportunity for the industry and peers to recognize and honour participants for outstanding leadership, innovation, and mentorship.

The Awards function is also another fundraising initiative, with proceeds supporting ongoing community and tourism developments regionally. This function reinforces the rationale to reflect on the accomplished initiatives and the targets for the Caribbean to enable sustainable growth and the continuum of resilience.

A Vital Moment for Caribbean Tourism

The Caribbean Weekend 2025 is an opportunity for the Caribbean tourism industry to facilitate high-level talks, develop strategies, and implement humanitarian initiatives. The Caribbean is committed to, and has proven, resilience in the tourism sector, especially after natural disasters, and is focused on sustainable tourism. The combination of activities is a testament to the Caribbean’s modern developments and continuing efforts in the tourism industry.

While Caribbean Tourism officials will meet in Miami, Caribbean Tourism leaders will focus on tackling the challenges of the tourism industry, along with building partnerships in the public and private sectors. The activities throughout the weekend will enhance the ties of the Caribbean and continue to promote the unifying nature of the Caribbean.

For participants and stakeholders in Caribbean Weekend 2025, the focus will be on Caribbean tourism heritage and the benefits to communities and stakeholders through tourism. The event will focus on rebuilding Caribbean tourism, with a focus on sustainable and collaborative rebuilding, and will help Caribbean tourism to continue to prosper.
