LOT Polish Airlines launches the sale of tickets for flights connecting Warsaw and Heraklion. The inaugural flight will take off on 30 May 2026, with WAW-HER-WAW connections available during the 2026 summer season.
The national carrier will be welcoming passengers aboard its planes 3 times per week - on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.
After Athens, Thessaloniki and Preveza Heraklion - the capital of Crete - is the fourth Greek destination in the network of routes operated by LOT Polish Airlines. In view of the region’s great tourist potential and the continuously increasing number of Polish travellers choosing Greece for their holidays, the national carrier has decided to add Crete to its portfolio of vacation destinations.

The WAW-HER-WAW route will be operated 3 times a week, with the inaugural flight taking off on 30 May 2026. Passengers will be departing Chopin Airport on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with flight LO619 taking to the skies at 11:45 am on Mondays and Saturdays, and at 10:20 am on Fridays. Return flights (LO620) are scheduled to take off at 4:40 pm and 3:20 pm, respectively. This means that our guests will be spending 2 hours and 55 minutes aboard the hospitable planes of Poland’s national carrier.
The Greek islands have been unwaveringly popular among Polish holiday makers for several years now, so the launch of this new destination was a natural step for us in the process of expanding our route network in the Mediterranean. In the summer, our passengers are looking not only for sunshine, but also for locations that inspire them to discover the beauty of nature and the richness of history. With the new route, LOT Polish Airlines will provide a convenient and fast connection to one of Greece’s most interesting regions. I have no doubt that the service connecting Warsaw and Heraklion will be the right choice for passengers craving the sunny holidays of their dreams.

The capital of Crete is known not only for its paradise-like beaches and stunning seascapes. It is also – and perhaps most importantly – famous for locations that are the birthplace of the ancient world. The Palace of Knossos – often referred to as the most valuable monument of all time – is one of such sites. Built over a period of more than 300 years, it delighted – in its glory days – with more than a thousand rooms. According to mythical beliefs, a labyrinth, known from the tale of Minotaur, was hidden under its walls.

Equally impressive are the ruins of the Phaistos Palace that was erected around 1900 BC. A visit to this archaeological site provides a unique insight into the lives, the fascinating culture and the history of ancient Minoans, as the site once served as the centre of political, administrative and economic activity in the region.
The CretAquarium – one of the largest and most modern facilities of this type in all of Europe – is an excellent attraction not only for children, but also for adult travellers. It is home to approximately 4,000 representatives of flora and fauna from more than 200 different species inhabiting the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The aquarium offers a unique opportunity to become familiar with the treasures of this diverse and often surprising ecosystem.

One cannot call a visit to Crete complete without spending at least one day on the beach - and the local beaches are exceptionally beautiful. Amnissos is one of them. It is distinguished by its very calm aura and the presence of small, colourful fish. For those craving more bustle, the popular Karteros beach would be an ideal option. It attracts travellers with its crystal-clear water and golden sand. Interestingly, in its western part, called Florida, one may find a pleasant tavern and a small military air base. The place offers also a great location for enjoying sunsets. Paleokastro beach is a favourite destination for all fishing or snorkelling enthusiasts. It allows its visitors to relax actively, while enjoying pure beauty of nature.
Tickets for flights from Warsaw Chopin Airport to Heraklion are now available across all LOT sales channels, including lot.com, LOT Contact Centre and at LOT Travel offices.
