The previously announced first newbuild order for Marella Cruises will be shifted to Germany.
The ships will instead go to its joint venture TUI Cruises, and will later join the Mein Schiff fleet.
This is a ‘strategic realignment of cruise operations,’ TUI Group said
The initial order for Marella Cruises was announced in March 2025.
Marella’s fleet is aging with all its ships dating from the mid-1990s.
The initial order was valued at more than €2 billion.
The two ship are scheduled for completion in 2030 and 2032 at Fincantieri.
TUI Cruises said the two inTUItion Class ships will now be larger at 157,000 gross tons.
They will become the largest ships in the Mein Schiff fleet, accommodating nearly 4.000 passengers.
