LOT Polish Airlines to expand its presence at regional airports. Poland’s national carrier will connect Kraków Airport with Rome, Barcelona and Madrid

  • LOT Polish Airlines announced the launch of three new year-round connections from Kraków Airport to Rome, Barcelona and Madrid.
  • The destinations operated by the national carrier are some of travellers’ most popular and frequently chosen ones.
  • The inaugural flights for all three new routes are scheduled for 30 March 2026.
LOT Polish Airlines, pursuing their strategy of strengthening presence at regional airports in Poland, announce the launch of three new, direct flights from Kraków. This is yet another step in the ongoing plan to develop the regional network, which connects the potential of Polish cities with Europe’s major tourist and business destinations.
Building on sustained growth, LOT Polish Airlines leverages the potential of its new fleet and rapidly developing regional hubs, offering residents of Małopolska access to attractive tourist and business destinations, providing international travellers with new opportunities to explore Kraków and southern Poland. New LOT Polish Airlines flights from Kraków Airport will include Rome, Barcelona and Madrid.

The development of the regional flight network is a strategic direction that enables us to fully capitalise on the potential of Polish cities and regions. With the new fleet, we can successfully broaden our service portfolio, both from Warsaw and regional airports, offering passengers comfortable travel. Today, Kraków Airport stands as one of the most dynamically developing airports in Europe, which has a direct impact on the potential of the entire region. We are delighted that, as the national carrier, we can respond to these needs by offering the residents of Małopolska three new destinations to some of the most attractive cities in Europe. We are looking forward to welcoming you onboard our aircraft on flights to Rome, Barcelona and Madrid – and now also from Kraków.

Michał Fijoł, CEO & President of the Management Board of LOT Polish Airlines

With the launch of three new direct routes, LOT Polish Airlines will offer as many as 11 destinations during the 2026 summer season and will expand their Kraków base with an additional Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The increase in LOT Polish Airlines’ presence at Kraków Airport in its first full year of operation will mean over 250,000 additional seats on direct routes to Madrid, Barcelona and Rome. LOT Polish Airlines’ new routes improve Kraków and Małopolska’s accessibility, travel comfort and business opportunities, and boost the development of tourism in the city and region. On top of that, they strengthen Kraków Airport’s position as a regional leader and an important transport hub in Central and Eastern Europe.

The dynamic development of economic relations between Poland and the countries of Southern Europe is opening up new investment opportunities, particularly for partners from Spain and Italy. Kraków, as one of the fastest-growing business hubs in Central Europe, is attracting increasing interest from investors from these countries. Thanks to its stable economic environment, skilled workforce, and strategic location in the heart of Europe, Poland is becoming an attractive destination for capital from the south of the continent. This is confirmed by 2024 data showing that 113 companies with Spanish capital and 227 enterprises with Italian investors are already registered in Poland, reflecting growing confidence and the long-term potential for cooperation between the countries.
