UK, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, And Poland Drive Unmatched Tourism Surge In Greece

As Greece heads toward what could be its third consecutive record-breaking year in tourism, the UK, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, and Georgia are leading the charge. With British travelers booking 5.6 million seats for the summer, followed by significant increases from Germany and Italy, these countries are driving much of the surge. Additionally, emerging markets like Saudi Arabia, Armenia, and Georgia are contributing to Greece’s growing appeal, ensuring a dynamic mix of international visitors. Despite a few declines from other regions, these nations are helping Greece set new milestones in tourism as summer 2025 approaches.

As mid-April ushers in warmer spring temperatures, Greece is already seeing a surge of tourists, on track for its third consecutive record-breaking year. The British are leading the charge, booking 5.6 million airline seats for the summer, marking a 2.2 percent increase from 2024.

This accounts for 20 percent of all international air traffic to Greece, with the American market also showing impressive growth. In response to the rising demand, U.S. airlines are adding more direct flights to the country.

The Germans are close behind, securing 4.7 million seats, up by 2.5 percent, and making up 17 percent of the total. These two nations have traditionally dominated Greece’s foreign arrivals. Italy ranks third, with 2.5 million seats booked, a 3.9 percent rise, and a steadily growing market. Americans are also flocking to Greece in increasing numbers, with approximately 727,000 expected this year—a notable 18.6 percent rise, bolstered by the large Greek Diaspora.

Greece is on track for a record-breaking tourism year, with the UK, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, and Georgia leading the way in bookings. These countries are fueling the surge in international visitors, contributing to Greece’s growing appeal for summer 2025.

Smaller markets are also showing increased interest in Greece, including Saudi Arabia, neighboring Albania, Armenia, and Georgia. However, some countries, such as France, Poland, and Denmark, have seen unexpected declines in bookings.
