The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts proudly congratulates San Juan East Side Symphony, the first place (1st) winners of the Panorama 2025: National Single Pan Band Finals, held at the Queen’s Park Savannah on Saturday December 14th, 2024.
The San Juan East Side Symphony delivered a resounding performance of “The Guns”, which earned them an impressive 284 points, securing the top spot on the night, being a part of the unforgettable and vibrant cultural expression. The competition also saw exceptional performances from other Single Pan Bands with Chord Masters Steel Orchestra placing second (2nd) with their energetic rendition of “Swing Engine”, earning 276 points, and Metro Stars Steel Orchestra coming in third place (3rd) with their dynamic performance of “Disco Daddy”, garnering a close, 272 points. This, according to the official results shared by Pan Trinbago.
This year’s National Single Pan Band Finals and its successes were particularly celebratory on the heels of the Ministry’s recent announcement of Cabinet’s approval for increased funding for unsponsored Steelbands and Steelpan players ahead of Carnival 2025. This timely approval reflects the Government’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Steelpan fraternity, especially in anticipation of a successful Carnival 2025.
Speaking on the outstanding finals, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Senator the Honourable, Randall Mitchell, commended all participants and highlighted the importance of this achievement: “This year, 2024, was an especially celebratory year for the Steelpan Fraternity, in light of all activities surrounding World Steel Pan Day, the passage of legislation to designate the Steelpan as Trinidad and Tobago’s National Musical Instrument and most recently, the significant increase in Government funding, remittances and support for unsponsored Steelbands and Steelpan players. I extend heartfelt congratulations to the San Juan East Side Symphony and all exceptional performers at the National Panorama Single Pan Band Finals. Thank you for your consistent demonstration of the extraordinary talent and dedication to our Steelpan and our unique cultural landscape.”
In recognising the tireless efforts of Pan Trinbago Minister Mitchell added, “We are grateful to Pan Trinbago President Mrs. Beverly Ramsey-Moore and her entire team as well as, all stakeholders for the consistent execution of successful Steelpan events and for their hard work in the promotion and preservation of our National Musical Instrument and its rich artform.”
The Ministry extends its warmest congratulations to all Single Pan Band Steelbands that participated in this competition, and looks forward with eager anticipation for the remaining categories of Panorama 2025.
