Selangor eyes 8 million tourists for the TMS 2025, unveils exciting lineup of events and promotions

In anticipation of the “Year of Visiting Selangor 2025” (TMS 2025), Tourism Selangor and the state government are aiming to welcome eight million tourists next year.

To achieve this ambitious goal, over 100 events and programs are planned across every district to highlight Selangor’s diverse attractions.

Datuk Ng Suee Lim, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Local Government Development and Tourism, emphasized the campaign’s focus on making Selangor a prime destination for both domestic and international visitors.

“With full support from government and private agencies alike, Selangor’s tourism industry is set to make a remarkable impact, targeting an economic boost with tourism receipts projected to reach RM11.7 billion,” he stated.

Datuk Ng made these remarks at the recent Selangor Travel Fair 2024, held at Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya, which also featured the official pre-launch of the TMS 2025 campaign, unveiling its logo and theme song, “Surprising Selangor,” performed by Malaysian singer Aizat Amdan.

The three-day Selangor Travel Fair, which started on November 1, introduced a special collaboration with Journify by Malaysia Aviation Group to promote domestic tourism.

With over 20 tourism operators, including Splash Mania Waterpark, Skyline Luge, Jumpstreet Malaysia, HL Dragon Fruit Farm, Farm in the City, and Avani Goldcoast Resort Sepang, the fair offered exclusive discounts on travel packages valued at more than RM200,000.

Tourism Selangor CEO Azrul Shah Mohamad highlighted the impact of tourism operators’ support on the TMS 2025 mission, with discounts reaching up to 50% on various tour packages.

“Visitors can enjoy unique experiences through workshops, cultural performances, and guest artist showcases.

Plus, lucky attendees have the chance to win tour packages through special lucky draws,” he said.

The event saw impressive turnout, drawing 20,000 visitors, including tourism industry professionals and the general public, all eager to experience Selangor’s rich cultural heritage, innovative attractions, and vibrant tourism offerings as the state prepares for an exceptional year in 2025.
