VINCI Airports boosts travel with the return of easyJet’s twice-weekly Budapest-Lyon flights, enhancing connectivity and tourism between France and Hungary.
Budapest Airport, operated by VINCI Airports, has marked the return of easyJet’s twice-weekly service connecting Budapest to Lyon. This route, which was part of VINCI Airports’ network, had been suspended since the pandemic but is now back to meet the growing demand for travel between these two vibrant cities.
The relaunch of this route is a significant milestone, as it caters to the increasing tourism traffic between France and Hungary. The restoration of the Budapest-Lyon link highlights the recovery and growth of air travel in the region, particularly in response to rising tourism demands.
The service offers more than 2,500 two-way monthly seats, providing ample capacity for travelers. With no direct competition on this route, the airline is well-positioned to attract passengers, and there is already potential for increased frequencies as demand continues to grow.
Tourism between France and Hungary has been on an upward trajectory, with Budapest attracting a growing number of French tourists. In 2023 alone, 193,000 French visitors explored the Hungarian capital, reflecting a 7% increase from pre-pandemic levels.
This renewed connection between Budapest and Lyon not only strengthens ties between the two countries but also supports the broader recovery of the tourism industry in both France and Hungary.
