HOSPA Professional Development sees a 20% increase in learners as hospitality embraces education

The latest stats from HOSPA Professional Development indicate that learner enrolment on its courses is up 20% in 2024 when compared to the previous year – indicating that more and more professionals in the industry are focused on learning new skills and enhancing their capabilities.

The growth underscores the growing recognition within the hospitality industry of the critical importance of ongoing professional development as the requirements of the sector rapidly evolve.

HOSPA Professional Development offers a range of courses tailored to meet the advancing needs of hospitality professionals, and its offering has become an essential resource for those looking to advance their careers in a rapidly changing industry.

Jane Pendlebury, CEO of HOSPA, commented on the growth in enrolment, saying: “In today’s fast-paced hospitality environment, the importance of continuous learning cannot be overstated. The significant increase in learners enrolling in our Professional Development programmes is testament to the industry’s commitment to excellence and individuals’ desire to improve. At HOSPA, we are proud to support the professional growth of those who join our courses, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive. And this is something that’s increasingly needed as technology develops at an astonishing rate.”

The growth in enrolment comes as HOSPA Professional Development continues to expand its offering, with the recent launch of two innovative new courses designed to meet specific needs within the industry.

The latest saw its Empowering Hospitality IT Leadership Workshop launch in August 2024. Designed to equip senior hospitality leaders with critical insights and strategies in IT, it covers key topics such as IT infrastructure, strategic investments, vendor management and emerging technologies like digital transformation and robotic process automation. Led by industry experts, Michael Heyward and Fergus Boyd, the workshop offers a personalised learning experience aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of IT’s role in enhancing business strategy and operational efficiency.

Coming swiftly in its wake, HOSPA Professional Development’s Commercial Restaurant Management Programme is set to welcome its first cohort in September 2024 as it looks to focus on enhancing the commercial acumen of restaurant managers. The course covers essential topics such as cost management, menu analysis and data-driven decision-making, all designed to optimise business operations and maximise profits.

Jane Pendlebury concluded, saying: “As the industry evolves, so must our offering – and we’re committed to being at the forefront, staying ahead of the curve and imparting that essential knowledge to others in the industry. The latest courses are prime examples of how we look to ensure we spearhead development within our fantastic sector.”
