The Valley, Anguilla, August 27, 2024: The Chairman of the Anguilla Tourist Board (ATB), Mr. Kenroy Herbert, led a three-person delegation to the 36th Annual Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas from August 11–15, 2024. Mrs. Stacey Liburd, Anguilla’s Director of Tourism, and Ms. Kimberly King, Chief Marketing Officer, ATB, accompanied Mr. Herbert to the prestigious trade event. Virtuoso® is the leading global network specializing in luxury and experiential travel, renowned for creating meaningful, bespoke experiences.
“As a Virtuoso destination, with six Virtuoso properties on the island, it is important for Anguilla to be present at Virtuoso Travel Week, the ultimate global travel community event. This gathering offers unparalleled networking opportunities with the leading Virtuoso Travel partners, along with access to invaluable data and insights from the world’s top luxury travel network,” stated ATB Chairman Kenroy Herbert.
The Anguilla delegation secured over 65 one-on-one meetings with travel advisors and initiated several networking opportunities. The team also conducted a dedicated sales training session alongside the Director of Sales from the Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club.
Within the Virtuoso network, production for Anguilla increased by 9.9% in 2023 compared to 2022, and this upward trajectory is expected to continue through 2024. Notably, Anguilla is among the top five most sought-after destinations for the Festive Season, along with Mexico (#1), Hawaii (#2), Costa Rica (#4), and Saint Barthelemy (#5). Saint Lucia, the Dominican Republic, and Grenada are destinations on the rise, with double- and triple-digit percentage increases.
Virtuoso also unveiled their Voice of Luxury Report, the product of extensive research based on their data warehouse of (US) $80 billion in transactions and an ongoing series of surveys. The key takeaway is that travel remains robust, even against a backdrop of global challenges. The demand for travel advisors remains high, with a 76 percent increase in consumers seeking out travel advisors so far this year via the network’s site, virtuoso.com.
The continued demand for exclusive-use, high-end experiences, wellness travel, solo female travel, and travel to off-the-beaten-path destinations and at off-peak times are among the major drivers of consumer travel and align with Anguilla’s unique tourism offering.
