Amsterdam-Backed IBTM World 2024 to Feature Pioneering Forum for Association Leaders with ESAE

IBTM World, the renowned global trade show for the meetings and events sector, has announced initial details for its 2024 Association Leaders Forum. This premier program, developed with the European Society of Association Executives (ESAE) and supported by the Amsterdam Convention Bureau, aims to tackle urgent practical and strategic challenges associations face today.

Scheduled for the first day of IBTM World 2024, the forum will align with the theme “People.Power.Potential.” This serves as a foundation to discuss enhancing the power of people through innovative technologies. The forum will zero in on strategic AI integration within association operations and the use of digital tools to foster engaging, financially viable, and sustainable events. It will emphasize ongoing efforts towards a more sustainable industry future.

The 2024 Association Leaders Forum will address vital issues impacting the future of associations, such as balancing executive governance with risk management, and the necessity for innovation amid global challenges. It will provide insights for thriving in the evolving association landscape.

A significant focus will be on AI’s role in strategic planning within associations. Participants will explore using AI and digital resources to improve event efficacy, thereby increasing engagement and financial sustainability. Additionally, the forum will continue the dialogue on sustainability, advocating for environmentally responsible event planning.

The human aspect of association management will also be a key discussion point, with strategies to prevent team member burnout while equipping them with necessary tools and skills for effective and fulfilling work. The forum aims to cultivate a supportive work environment for association professionals.

Another important agenda item is preparing associations for significant electoral changes in the upcoming year, navigating through geopolitical complexities to maintain resilience and adaptability.

The event will feature prominent speakers such as Martin Boyle, CEO of IAPCO; Liesbeth Switten, Secretary General at AIB and ESAE Vice-President; Dianna Steinbach, Senior Vice-President of Growth at the Institute of Management Accountants; among others. These leaders will share insights through panel discussions and case studies, fostering an interactive and educational environment.

Networking opportunities will be abundant, allowing attendees to form new connections and strengthen existing ones, enhancing the forum’s value for all participants.

Claudia Hall, IBTM World Exhibition Director, expressed excitement for the forum, emphasizing the event’s commitment to delivering tangible value to delegates. Liesbeth Switten, ESAE Vice-President, also underscored the forum’s importance as a central gathering for association professionals to address pressing issues and drive the sector forward into the 21st century.

The Association Leaders Forum, crafted in partnership with ESAE and informed by its members, remains an essential annual gathering for association leaders globally, offering a platform for idea exchange, learning, and sector advancement.
