It is doubling its supply deal with Austria based OMV.
Six months ago Ryanair inked a supply deal to take 500 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel.
It just announced it will take another 500 tonnes of SAF from OMV in 2024.
This agreement will save a further 1,250 tonnes in CO2 emissions, the airline says, which is equivalent to about 100 Ryanair flights from Dublin to Austrian capital Vienna.
Ryanair’s Director of Sustainability, Tom Fowler, said: “SAF plays a key role in our Pathway to Net Zero decarbonisation strategy.”
“We have committed to increasing our use of over the coming years – a commitment that this deal with OMV will help move further forward.”
OMV is a key fuel supply partner for Ryanair in Austria, Germany and Romania.
OMV is one of Austria’s largest listed industrial companies with a workforce of over 22,000.
“We are building a growth business for Sustainable Aviation Fuel to support the industry’s journey towards a more sustainable future,” Martijn van Koten, OMV EVP of Fuels & Feedstock said last year during the initial supply partnership launch.
