In Ahmedabad, Amit Shah introduces Akshar River Cruise

 In Ahmedabad, of late, the beautiful Sabarmati Riverfront has turned into the soul of social and cultural activities. Mr. Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, India, on Sunday said this as he introduced the ‘Akshar’ cruise virtually on the river. It cuts through the city parallel wise. Through video conference, while sharing about a gathering, Shah praised Prime Narendra Modi, saying when the latter was Gujarat’s chief minister, he adopted several initiatives that helped in improving state’s tourist footfall.

Shah also stated that in 1978 when he had got transferred to Ahmedabad, until the riverfront was built, he by no means went back to see the Sabarmati River.

He remembered that the river was then nothing but a pool of filthy water, Modi as the then chief minister of Gujarat had imagined a riverfront for first time and had designed it in that way, and was made at the time of his CM tenure. The riverfront turned not just in Ahmedabad but all over the country and other countries and turned into a centre of tourism, Shah said.

He also stated it has turned into a centre of different activities. Morning walkers take a leisurely walk, in the evening senior citizens walk around, and children play here and there. The riverfront in today’s context has turned into the soul of social and cultural activities.
