It will convene on 3-4 October for critical discussions in several key areas.
This include an overall strategy to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, including sustainable aviation fuels.
It will discuss the role of government and policy support, and financing the energy transition to sustainable aviation fuels.
Also up for discussion is the issue of non-CO2 emissions and effective implementation of sustainability measures.
“The WSS will bring together sustainability experts to discuss the key enablers for aviation’s successful decarbonization,” said Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General.
Walsh will speak at the symposium.
Other speakers include Patrick Healy, Chair, Cathay Pacific, Roberto Alvo, CEO, LATAM and Suzanne Kearns, Founding Director, Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Aviation.
The symposium is specifically tailored for airline sustainability experts, regulators and policy makers.
