Egypt giving a multiyear visa and adding more countries

 For the first time, Egypt is giving a multiyear visa and adding more countries to be eligible for visa-on-arrival facility, said the country’s tourism minister.


A multiple-entry visa valid for five years will be obtainable for $700, while a single-entry visa valid for 1 month upon arrival can at present be acquired by more than 180 nationalities paying $25.


Among the fewnationalities added of late comprise the Chinese and Indian, said the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities,Ahmed Issa.


Theseprogresses are part of a plan to lift tourism, which is a vitalfoundation of foreign exchange and employment for Egypt’s economy which has grievedbadly in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Russia and Ukraine.


Egypt, which last year witnessed 11.7 million tourists, aims to increase that figure by 25 to 30 per cent every year and touch 30 million tourists by 2028.


Tourist statisticsamplified by more than 30 per cent during the months of January and February, when compared to the first two months in 2022, opined MinisterIssa.


While the two foremost tourist bases — Russia and Ukraine reduced by 40 per cent and 80 per cent, in that order, visitors from other countries supported for that loss.


Tourism improved from countries like the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy,Saudi Arabia and Spain. The amount of Italian tourists improved by 250 per cent.


MinisterIssa said that he is hopeful that Egypt would realize this year’s objective of 15 million tourists, which would brand it as a record-setting year.
