American Airlines is adding four international and six domestic routes from its hub in Miami this winter, expanding its flight schedule there to the largest number ever. New destinations include Chetumal, Mexico and the Caribbean islands of Dominica, Anguilla and San Andres, Colombia.

How Roberta's builds its spicy-sweet Bee Sting pizza

The Bee Sting is one of the most popular pizzas at New York City's Roberta's, and the pizzeria's Carlo Mirarchi and Brandon Hoy share the recipe for the soppressata- and honey-topped pie in their new book, "Roberta's: Still Cookin'." The crust gets its lift from starter rather than yeast, and a homemade chili oil adds extra heat to balance the sweetness of the honey.

United Airlines begins Nigeria service

United Airlines started its new route between Washington D.C.'s Dulles International Airport and Lagos, Nigeria on Nov. 29. Uzoma Emenike, Nigeria's Ambassador to the United States, and Patrick Quayle, United's senior vice president for international network and alliance, were on hand to mark the occasion.

CDC steps up airport surveillance for Omicron variant

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said the agency is enhancing surveillance at four of the country's busiest international airports amid rising concern about the Omicron variant, which has not been detected in the US. The agency is exploring additional measures, such as requiring COVID-19 tests to be taken closer to the time of flight and possible post-arrival testing and quarantine, Walensky said.
