Myanmar’s military government is going ahead to reopen its tourism sector to foreigners early next year, and are thinking to attract visitors from Asia in the midst of declining Covid outbreak although the death toll from political violence continues to rise.
The Myanmar government is making a bet on travel arrangements with countries including Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, said the Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Htay Aung. The recent lifting of a ban on inter-provincial travel and traditional holidays has prompted some locals to go on vacation, said Aung.
