Dubai received top global recognition for keeping tourists safe during the pandemic

It’s great news for Dubai! The city recently received top global recognition for keeping tourists safe during the pandemic. Marcelo Risi, chief of the Communications Department of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) explained that the desert city rightly deserves recognition for pro-actively working to keep the tourists as well as tourist workers as safe as possible.

To quote Risi, “It has also created a good example of cooperation between government and business. Such cooperation is more essential than ever, and UNWTO is pleased to see Dubai and many other destinations around the world promoting collaboration and solidarity to support our sector and restart tourism.”

Also, the chief mentioned that safe international travel is likely to happen but they require rebuilding confidence to restart tourism.

“The tourism sector is ready to restart as soon as conditions allow, but these will depend on both health management and international coordination and standards – again, flying solo leads nowhere,” said the chief.

Also, the UNWTO praised Dubai on hosting EXPO 2020 successfully, which sends a positive message. The secretary-general of UNWTO, while commending the city for its amazing achievement, mentioned that it’s vital to restart tourism in the world and that they will keep no stones unturned to reconstruct with more economic and social resilience.
