The UK’s leading group of online holiday rental marketplaces has seen a record spike in bookings in the 12 hours since Boris Johnson unveiled plans to relax lockdown in England. The Rest Easy Group, which has more than 60,000 properties across its online brands, shared traffic and booking figures following the PM’s announcement, as Brits flock to book their summer staycations. Cornwall and Devon are the most popular destinations, with increasing YoY interest in Somerset and Dorset, while the average booking cost across the UK is £947 (a 46% increase on the same date last year). Large group bookings are proving popular, as well as dog-friendly accommodation.

Compared to Monday, in anticipation of the PM’s announcement, traffic increased 54% and bookings 119%, while traffic increased by up to 381% at peak hours across the group after Boris Johnson made his announcement.
