Southwest Airlines To Resume International Services From July ...

Southwest Airlines recently announced that it is planning to resume international flights to selected destinations starting this July. It is also expecting to resume domestic services going from October 31, 2020, to January 4, 2021. The latest action comes as a part of the carrier’s plan to rebound its business in the forthcoming months.


According to the latest of plan, the airlines will offer additional flights and new routes to travelers in key Southwest cities. The carrier is mostly targeting to provide benefit to business travelers as well as leisure travelers during the holidays. Andrew Watterson, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, Southwest Airlines said in a statement that the carrier is anticipating that business travelers will resume travel activities with a heightened focus on costs. He mentioned that the airline is pairing unmatched schedules with value and hospitality so that the company can welcome the travellers whenever they are ready to travel again.


The airlines added in its statement that it is planning to restart operations mostly by considering business travelers while arranging a fourth-quarter schedule that would bring new routes across the country. It informed that it is the very first time that Southwest is extremely eager to as the preferred choice of corporate travel once businesses across America begins to recover.


At present, the carrier is studying and closely analysing conditions to resume international service. Meanwhile, it has also decided to restart services to Cancun, San Jose del Cabo in Mexico and Havana, Montego Bay and Nassau in the Caribbean from July 1. The airlines have informed that to its other international destinations will resume after respective governments ease travel restrictions.


The carrier is adding new services out of Long Beach, California from November 1. It will fly to Phoenix, Arizona, three times in a day and Austin, Texas, one time a day. The airline is also planning to start service between Ontario, California, and Houston (Hobby), Texas on the same day. The flight will operate once daily everyday excepting Saturday.


On November 2, the airline will begin six times weekly service between Nashville and Orange County/Santa Ana, California, once every day except for Sundays. The carrier also plans to offer more nonstop and frequent flight options from the cities of Phoenix, Denver, and Nashville towards the end of the year.
