Hammerson is all set to launch a new flagship hotel in Leeds. As per the plan submitted by the hotel, the new 205-bed hotel will be adjacent to the Victoria Gate, which is owned and managed by the same group.
The Victoria Gate Hotel will part of City Quarters concept, which is supposed to create vibrant mixed-use neighbourhood surroundings in Hammerstone’s flagship destinations in across UK and Ireland.
Hammerson is going to transform many of its venues beyond pure retail into successful neighbourhoods that will provide homes, workspace, and hotel space among others.
A public consultation was held last month prior to this submission in which the response to the new hotel was found overwhelmingly positive.
92 per cent of respondents communicated that they supported the plans and also had faith that the proposals would support the continued growth of the city.
The iconic building is supposed to regenerate the land between Eastgate Roundabout Dyer Street and St. Peter’s Street to the east of Victoria Gate multi-storey car park. While the site has temporary permission for the surface car park but is going to expire on October 2021.
ACME has designed the building, the same architect which was involved in the Victoria Leeds project.
The façade design cue is inspired by Leeds’s rich textile industry heritage while also creating a close visual relationship with the rest of the development.
Apart from 205 spacious rooms, conference facilities, an on-site gym, a contemporary bar and restaurant will also be there.
