Tourists in Rome will be prohibited from sitting on the city’s famous landmarks and the police have started implementing a law that will have restrictions on Italian and tourists on protected monuments.

Spanish Steps one of the Italian capital many UNESCO World Heritage Sites is among them.

It was observed that a police officer dressed in yellow vests asked people to stand up this week. This June a ban was imposed that warned sitting, eating or drinking on the steps carried a fine of up to €400 (£370).

Another protected site like the Trevi Fountain will also come under the ordinance. There will be a slew of new rules that will crack down on the bad tourist behavior. This will cover public snacking to drinking from water fountains.

Men can no longer go topless in public in the Italian capital or practice attaching ‘love padlock’ to bridge as it will carry a fine if contravened.

According to the ne regulations, eating messy foods around popular tourist attractions like the Trevi Fountain is a no-no along with touching lip  against the spout when drinking from Roman public water fountains.

Two tourists were fined and ordered to leave Venice for making coffee next to the Rialto bridge.   Local priests arrested the backapackers, a man and a woman in their 30s after a resident found them sitting on the steps using a camping stove.
