Park Inn by Radisson – Radisson Hotel Group’s upper midscale hotel brand opens a 98-room hotel in Wismar, northern Germany, with MV WERFTEN. All the rooms have been created by the city’s shipyard MV WERFTEN Fertigmodule and feature a unique ship’s cabin design.
Located in the district known for the golden age of the Hanseatic League, the Park Inn by Radisson Wismar has opened its doors. Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Chairman & CEO of Genting Hong Kong and owner of MV WERFTEN; Oliver Behrendt, Managing Director of MV WERFTEN; and Thomas Beyer, Wismar’s Mayor symbolically cut the blue ribbon in front of the hotel entrance at a ceremony attended by more than 150 specially invited guests.
“This new building project is something very special for us,” said Tan Sri Lim during the event. “With rooms featuring such unique design, the hotel unites two of our most important business areas: tourism and cruises. It is also part of our sustained involvement and extensive investment in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.”
The 98 bedrooms and suites are stylishly furnished with a contemporary design, produced in MV WERFTEN’s own cabin factory in Wismar. The rooms – with interiors inspired by ships cabins – bring a unique feel to the hotel, connecting guests with the historic port town’s past. The Park Inn by Radisson Wismar also features a restaurant, serving healthy and regional cuisine, two conference rooms, a bar and a lounge offering a view of the Port of Wismar.

Oliver Behrendt, Managing Director of MV WERFTEN Alter Holzhafen Beherbergungsstätte GmbH, said: “We are delighted about the opening of our hotel. As the shipyard and the historic old town are in the immediate vicinity, the hotel is the ideal accommodation not only for partners, consultants, and guests of the shipyard but also for business travelers, individual tourists, and families. And our hotel is the only place where you can stay overnight on land while enjoying the atmosphere of a cruise ship.”
Yilmaz Yildirimlar, Area Senior Vice President for Radisson Hotel Groupsaid: “We are excited to be taking part in this project with MV WERFTEN. The new Park Inn by Radisson in Wismar strengthens our presence on the Baltic Sea, which ranges from Lübeck, via Rostock and Swinoujscie to Gdansk and beyond."
