The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across Wales, South West England and North West England on Tuesday. Two days of thunderstorms today and tomorrow will spark more life-threatening floods, blackouts and travel chaos.

After an extremely wet weekend flooding has hit some areas. Millions will have to endure more intense downpours due to the storms today. By Wednesday, much of the UK will be blanketed by the weather system.

For Wednesday, a separate storm warning is in place covering much of Scotland, Northern England, the Midlands, East Anglia and South East England.

Homes and businesses are at risk of more flooding over the coming days. Lightning strikes could lead to power cuts. Weather forecasters fear the predicted floods, lightning, hail and strong winds could spark travel chaos.

The Met Office warned that the train and bus services may be delayed or cancelled. The driving conditions will be difficult and roads could be closed due to flooding. The fast-flowing floodwater can potentially cause danger to life.

The Met Office said: “There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life.”

Parts of the South West and Wales will see heavy downpours and could get between 30mm and 40mm of rain today.

Thunderstorms and outbreaks of heavy rain will arrive across the far southwest early on Tuesday, then spreading further northeast across England and Wales and increasing in frequency during the day. People should take precautions in view of the Yellow weather warning.
