Anurak Community Lodge Wins SKAL International Asian Area Environmental Award

Anurak Community Lodge in Surat Thani province, southern Thailand, has won the 2019 SKÅL Asian Area Award – Environment Category. The 20-key ecolodge received the unanimous vote of the judges at the 48th SKAL Asia Congress in Bangalore 28-30 June.
The award was presented 9 July in Bangkok by Andrew Wood, President of SKAL International, Bangkok, to Willem Niemeijer, the CEO of YAANA Ventures, which conceived, built and runs Anurak Community Lodge.
After presenting the award, Mr Wood said: “Willem and his team represent the very best of the tourism industry in Southeast Asia. They are passionate, trustworthy, both global and local — and entrepreneurs.”
Most ‘sobering’ countries for Russian tourists named

The latest study revealed that Russian tourists consume the least amount of alcohol in the UAE, with only 39% admitting drinking there. Tourists particularly noted the emirate of Sharjah, where alcohol is completely prohibited, and only those who have a government-issued license are allowed to possess hard liquors.
Qatar took the second place in the ranking: 20 percent of tourists never drank alcohol in this Arab state. It is noted that in Qatar, alcohol is sold in a single store in the whole country, and only with a special resident card. The same percentage of the respondents answered that they could not drink alcohol in the Maldives – it is also prohibited there.

Low-cost Norwegian launches its first-ever New York to Athens nonstop route
Norwegian Airlines inaugurated on Tuesday their first-ever route to Athens, Greece, from the U.S. ANA reports.
The new summer seasonal, nonstop service from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Athens International Airport starts July 2, 2019, and ends on October 26, 2019, operating four times a week. Fares begin as low as $ 219.90 in Economy and $ 669.90 in Premium, one-way, taxes included.
