VisitAberdeenshire has partnered with Wideroe in order to entice Norwegians to hop over the North Sea and visit Aberdeen. The initiative is part of the plan to grow Aberdeen tourism across the north-east. It is expected that the Aberdeen tourism will grow to 1 billion pounds industry by 2023. Wideroe is the largest regional airline operating in the Nordic countries.



Norwegians will be able to experience cheaper shops and natural beauty in Aberdeen. Tourism chief Chris Foy, who heads the organisation, said they were targeting the Norwegian market due to our proximity and ease of access.

Mr Foy, tourism chief said: “We have launched a partnership campaign with Wideroe airlines to promote the direct flights from Norway to Aberdeen with the objective to increase the number of leisure visitors to the north-east during the winter months.”

Norway annually contributes 11.5 million pounds to the visitor’s economy and is the important market for the region. Partnership with Wideroe will demonstrate that Aberdeen are easy to reach with affordable and regular flights.

Wideroe has a fleet of 40 Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft, and 3 Embraer E190-E2 aircraft which serves 41 domestic and six international destinations.
