As 2018 winds down, Orlando International Airport (MCO) continues to add to its list of global, national and local accolades for both the airport and its team of executives.

Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Florida’s busiest airport, is set to receive The Charles Andrews Memorial Hospitality Award for Community Leadership on December 15. The highest honor bestowed to an individual from the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association, this award recognizes a leader whose actions have positively contributed to both the Central Florida tourism industry and the greater community. Under Mr. Brown’s leadership, the largest Capital Improvement Project in airport history which includes major current terminal renovations and – the new South Terminal Complex – that is now underway. The airport has seen record-breaking passenger growth and expects to reach 47 million annual passengers before year’s end.

The airport’s Chief Financial Officer, Kathleen Sharman, was just presented a national Trailblazing Women in Public Finance award at The Bond Buyer’s Deal of the Year Awards in New York City on December 6. Celebrating the dedication, commitment and contributions of trailblazing women across the nation, the award represents a standard of excellence in the industry. After more than 23 years in public finance, Ms. Shaman remains passionate about the work she’s doing at MCO – including the recently completed North Terminal enhancement and South Terminal  Complex new construction projects.

Vicki Jaramillo, Senior Director of Marketing and Air Service Development for MCO, was also honored on December 8 with the Don Quixote Professional of the Year award. This recognition highlights the achievements and contributions of Hispanic professionals in Central Florida. Responsible for the airport’s strategic planning for new routes, airline relationships and passenger marketing and advertising, Ms. Jaramillo has been the driving force in deepening MCO’s breadth with international service, which now encompasses 14 destinations in Europe, 31 in Latin America/Caribbean, 15 in Canada and one in the Middle East.

These accolades are in addition to MCO being rated number one in customer satisfaction by J.D. Power in 2017 and 2018 – and recently being named “Large Airport of the Year” by CAPA – Centre for Aviation. The CAPA award recognizes an airport with over 30 million annual passengers that has been the biggest standout strategically, has established itself as a strategic leader, and done the most to advance the progress of the aviation industry. Orlando International Airport was selected by an international panel of judges for its creative adoption of new technology and rapid growth. CAPA’s Aviation Awards for Excellence are regarded as the preeminent awards for strategic excellence in aviation.
