India’s Jet Airways has waived air freight charges on all domestic cargo shipments of relief material to Kerala after the region was hit by some of the worst flooding in 100 years.
Jet Airways is supporting the flood hit Kerela by waiving air freight charges on all domestic cargo shipments of relief material to the state.
In close sync with the state administration and NGOs the airline supported the relief and rehabilitation efforts in the tourist region.
By now more than 10 tonnes of relief material was air lifted. Among the worst hit regions were Chalakudi and Aluva along with the Kochi Airport both domestic and international which is currently floode d and closed till August 29.
On behalf of Resul Pookutty Foundation , the airlines transported consignments in which a number of well-known Indian residents contributed.
Vinay Dube, chief executive said that Jet Airways is always ready to contribute to the community. They want to remove the suffering of those hit by the devastation in Kerala and every needed step was taken to help recover from the devastation.
Further, Jet Airways will be capping its economy fares catering to its non-stop domestic flights to/ from its operating destinations in Kerala and Mangalore.
On the domestic and international sectors Jet Airways has been operating additional flights.
From Friday onwards the airline will operate daily flights to the Naval airfield at Kochi from Bengaluru.
