China is facing heavy rain and thunderstorm, massive floods along major rivers that has destroyed bridges, blocked roads and railways.  Thousands of residents were evacuated and weather authorities are forecasting more downpours throughout the country.

There will be floods and landslides in the southwestern province of Sichuan and as per the state television 241 rivers in 24 provinces were flooded in the last few days. It has led to an economic loss of  25.9 billion yuan ($3.87 billion).

China is majorly hit by heavy rain and flood during this time that kills hundreds, however the causality was comparatively low this time. One province reportedly had 15 people dead and another had three.

As per the National Meteorological Center rainfall could exceed 80 mm per hour in some regions today.

There were warnings of floods in northeast and authorities halted outdoor activities  due to dangers caused by collapsing structures.

The water volumes in Yangtze river that runs from Yunnan in the southwest to Jiangsu and Shanghai on the east coast has increased that causes flooding in many of its tributaries. It has also increased the water volumes in the Three Gorges reservoir.

More than 10 highways in Sichuan province were inaccessible due to flooding and a bridge across the Sichuan’s Min river collapsed.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Management floods in the province caused damage of about 2.4 billion yuan by Thursday and emergency relief teams were sent to Sichuan and neighbouring Gansu province.

More than 80,000 residents were evacuated from the nearby city of Chongqing by Friday.
