This week, Delta Air Lines declared that it flew greater number of passengers in June than it has in any other month in the history of the airlines. The airline managed more than 17.7 million people, flying on mainline and Delta Connection flights around the world.
“We’ve made a commitment to our customers to be a reliability leader, delivering a safe, on-time product and the 80,000 employees of Delta are doing just that,” said Dave Holtz, Delta’s Senior Vice President — Operations and Customer Center. “We’re seeing customers fly Delta in record numbers this summer and it’s a resounding testament to the hard work and focus of our employees.”
Also, while speaking of records, the airline took pleasure in its best quarter ever from April through June, flying over 50 million passengers for the period.
Even though Delta Air Lines’ best passenger day ever was June 30, 2017, as the airline managed 646,000 customers in just one day, the Friday before the Fourth of July holiday in 2018 just missed that mark by a few thousand customers.
What’s more, June 2018 clocked in six of the top ten passenger days in the history of airlines which explains that the airline proves once again, that it’s summer and not the Thanksgiving and winter vacations that takes the cake for busiest days of the year.
As the airline industry has declared that airfares might increase as a result of soaring gas prices that news hasn’t seemed to influence future business of Delta.
Based on the current schedule, Delta and Delta Connection anticipate functioning 6,092 flights system wide on July 20 — the highest one-day total for the year.
