Costa Crociere, an Italian cruise line launches its first ship designed specifically for the Chinese tourists at Fincantieri, Monfalcone, shipyard plant based in North Italy.
Mario Zanetti, General Manager of Costa Group Asia said that as the first ship created specifically for the Chinese market, Costa Venezia marks a new era not only for Costa and Fincantieri, but for the Chinese cruise industry as a whole. From its conception until the technical launch of today and beyond, everything that regards Costa Venezia was designed to suite the Chinese customer’s taste.
During the ceremony, Costa Venezia touched the sea for the first time. The celebration followed the protocol provided by the maritime tradition for these occasions, with the flooding of the basin, following the cutting of the ribbon for the rupture of the bottle by the godmother, Chiara Ustulin, an employee of the construction site of Monfalcone.
Costa Venezia will enter service in March 2019 once the interior fittings have been completed. It will revive the uniqueness of Venetian and Italian culture to Chinese tourists.
The ship’s theater has been inspired by the “La Fenice,” the historical Venetian opera house; the main hall will reminds of “Piazza San Marco,” and the restaurants will reflect the typical architecture of the streets and the Venetian fields.
