One of the passengers of American Airlines, a mother-of-three was returning from a weekend getaway – only to find her bag was shredded by the airlines that left half her belongings in a bin and several others missing.

The lady named Kristen Horabin has just returned from a break in Tampa when she and husband waited at the luggage carousel at DFW International Airport and also the other passengers’ bags came out.

When Horabin enquired from a member of staff about her bag she responded to the question quite casually, gesturing to the ripped up-suitcase dumped in a black plastic bin.

This suitcase had been broken into two pieces and most of the clothes inside were ripped and smeared with black grease and toothpaste.

Half the contents were missing, as per Horabin’s statement.

The passenger told a media platform that though ‘stuff can be replaced’ she was quite shocked to notice how her luggage was handled. She added that what she found more distressing is the fact that after the incident took place someone merely gathered up what was left of the bag and its belongings and placed them in the bin and sent it on its way.

American Airlines asserted that they would like to offer an apology for the damage to the bag of Ms. Horabin.

The US flag carrier said it would send Ms Horabin $3,500 for damages and a $300 travel voucher. It is still unclear how the damage happened. Horabin and her husband, who live in Texas, had returned from a weekend trip to Tampa, Florida, WFAA reported. Her husband’s checked bags arrived undamaged, but Horabin’s battered belongings arrived on the baggage carousel in a plastic bin.

Horabin said that no one from the airline offered an explanation for the incident.
