On the 22-26 May 2018, in the days of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport handled 3110 air traffic movements. More than a quarter of that amount was operated by business jets (836 arrivals and departures, representing a 15% increase as compared to the SPIEF 2017 period).
The peak load in traffic and operations was on 25 May, the main day of the forum. On that date Pulkovo airport welcomed 59.200 passengers, handled 725 take-off and landing operations including 241 business jet ATMs. One of the novelties of the forum was a remote flight check in service that Pulkovo Airport had set up for the event participants directly at the venue. At airport counters at SPIEF the guests could get the boarding passes, receive their luggage tags, book additional airport services like Fast Track and VIP lounge access.
St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is one of the leadeing international events in the world of business and economics. SPIEF has been held since 1997. Over the last 20 years, the Forum has become a leading global platform for members of the business community to meet and discuss the key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets, and the world as a whole. SPIEF 2018 took place on the 24-26 May.
Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport welcomed 3.2 million passengers in January-March 2018, a 9.6% increase over the same period in 2017. In February 2018, Pulkovo for the third time in a row won the ‘Air Gates of Russia’ annual national prize. Passengers through open voting ranked St. Petersburg airport the best of the largest airports in Russia.
Since 2010, Northern Capital Gateways LLC has been the main operator of Pulkovo Airport. Based on a public-private partnership agreement with the city of St. Petersburg, the company manages the airport and implements its reconstruction and development project.
