Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the unified voice of the global cruise community, announced its 2018 Summit at Sea –an exclusive, flagship event for cruise industry stakeholders, taking place from October 11-14, 2018, aboard Royal Caribbean International’s, Symphony of the Seas.

The new event dates were announced at CLIA’s Annual Business on the Beach event that took place at Seatrade Cruise Global last month, in front of more than 450 CLIA Executive Partners and Cruise Line Executives.

The 2018 Summit at Sea will bring together the industry’s most influential executives within the cruise industry, including key suppliers and partners. The three-night cruise will visit three prominent destinations (Civitavecchia (Rome), Naples and Barcelona) within the Mediterranean region, spotlighting the importance of port and destinations within the cruise community.

“We are excited to host CLIA and set the stage for such a high-profile, global event as the CLIA Summit at Sea onboard our newest ship, Symphony of the Seas,” said Stuart Leven, VP EMEA and MD RCL Cruises Ltd. “With experts from all sides of the industry in attendance, what better environment to learn and network than on the most innovative and largest cruise ship in the world? We can’t wait to welcome them onboard.”

Symphony of the Seas, the cruise line’s newest ship, brings together the award-winning and acclaimed features only found on Royal Caribbean, with distinct, new experiences that will continue to inspire adventure among guests of all ages. New dining concepts and family activities, awe-inspiring aerial, stage, ice and aqua entertainment, and the most dynamic suite in family travel will join the lineup of Royal Caribbean exclusives. Symphony of the Seas claimed the title of the largest cruise ship in the world when she debuted in March 2018 for her inaugural season in Europe.

While onboard, attendees will have access to behind-the-scenes tours, networking opportunities and social functions in between port visits. The Summit has been held on the MSC Preziosa and Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth in previous years.

The event is part of the refreshed CLIA Executive Partner Program, which now boasts more than 340 partners across the port & destination, travel & tourism, technical & supply chain, and professional services sectors.

“We have continued to see more and more interest in the Executive Partner Program in the past few years, and I strongly believe that it is due to creating new and engaging events with our community,” said Bo Larsen, SVP, Strategic Partnerships. “The Summit is about getting the right people and the right content together, because when we have representation from each category, then we can have meaningful conversations that help move the needle within our industry.”
