Scotland received highest record of tourism funding to cope up with the upcoming tourist season.
The two Scottish Islands Skye and Orkney have been earmarked for the support from the new Scottish government fund which totals £6million for the whole of Scotland.
This tourism funding is aimed to address the significant increase in the international visitor numbers that has experienced by some of the popular countryside destinations.
Within the islands, £480,000 of the fund is being directed towards three touristic projects; building a car park site at the Standing Stones of Stenness world heritage site in Orkney, developing visitor facilities at the Glenbrittle pools and waterfalls in Skye, and improving road access and parking at the western tip of Skye, Neist Point.
The Tourism Secretary Fiona Hyslop delivered her thoughts which focused on the upliftment of tourism opportunities which will not only lure the international visitors, but also it will help to generate employment and bringing the upgraded services on transport, smart travel and communications.
Chief executive of VisitScotland, Malcolm Roughead, echoed the same where it is projected that reputation of Scotland as a quality destination relies on continued investment and innovation to ensure that current provision meets future demand.
