Construction of larger cruise ships would trigger a 48% rise in terms of ocean ship capacity in the decade to 2027 as per the latest findings of the Cruise Industry News Annual Report.

It mentioned that the passenger capacity would be growing from an estimated 26.7 million passengers this year to 39.6 million by the year 2027. Meanwhile gross revenue generated by cruise companies would increase from an estimated $40 billion in 2018 to $59 billion over the same period.

The report predicts that a majority of passenger growth would be sourced from Europe and not Asia that is presently the fastest-expanding market, owing to the Chinese cruise boom to a large extent.

This report also mentioned that North America is expected to generate nearly 55% of all passengers in 2018, Europe 27.8% and Asia Pacific by 17.4%.

And it further went on to add that in the following decade, this is likely to change to about 51% of the passengers coming from North America, 31.5% from Europe and 17.5% from Asia-Pacific pending the further development of China.
