New York City’s LaGuardia Airport has always been deemed as the world’s worst airport.

This is due to the fact that the present hodgepodge of four terminals of which only two are connected has implied that large operators including Delta Air Lines and American Airlines have split their operations, the consequence of expansion, mergers and just necessity.

But then though there a major makeover is taking place here, a recent realignment has commenced.

Delta’s shuttle flights including two and from Washington D.C. and Boston are moving from the Marine Air Terminal consolidating with its other operations. That split can be traced back to the early 1990s.

The fact that Delta had purchased the shuttle from Pan Am and had no room to relocate it to the separate terminal it then shared with Northwest Airlines.

More recently, American’s merger with US Airways imply that its flights had been split between the Central Terminal and what used to be a separate and non-connected terminal utilized by the latter.

However with all the flights of American operating from Concourses C and D in the Central Terminal the fact continued to be there that its Admirals Club is located on the D pier and C and D are not connected beyond security.

That has meant waiting for an unreliable shuttle bus between the two concourses if one’s flight departs from a C gate and one wanted to utilize the club in the D pier.

In an era where it appears that the U.S. airlines take for each time they give moe ways to earn miles, but charging more miles for awards, opening a new club in one city while closing it in another, adding free meals in a coach class on few longer routes and then downgrading the quality and quantity of what is served in first class, American recently added a perk for high-end customers whose flights have been departing the world’s worst airport’s Concourse C.

The lengthy list of those who are eligible includes direct club members and their guests, customers flying in first or business class on long-haul international flights or to Mexico City, plus Emerald and Ruby level frequent fliers from its oneworld partners. That comprises British Airways, LATAM, Iberia, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Finnair, Qatar Airways and Japan Airlines among others.
