Silversea Cruises’ 608-guest Silver Spirit is set to be sliced in two and stretched next month.
The ship launched in 2009, and is one of the nine all-suite butler-serviced ships of Silversea Cruises. From March 9-13, the vessel will be sliced and a pre-built 49-foot-long, 800 gross tonnage midsection will be inserted to stretch the ship. Attending will be a crowd of VIP onlookers to witness the engineering feat.
The massive refurbishment was inspired by the line’s newest flagship, Silver Muse. Changes and additions will include the following:
- The addition of 6 Silver Suites, 26 Veranda Suites, and 2 Panorama Suites
- New technology and in-suite entertainment for all suites
- Enhanced fitness center with new outdoor aerobics area and free weights room
- Expanded pool deck
- Additional restaurant, and expanded bar and lounge areas
- New spa concept
