The Chairman of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company who is Rauf Veliyev and also the General Director of Moscow Rover Shipping Company Konstantin Anisimov have both signed a memorandum of cooperation in cruise shipping in the Caspian region.
This project aims to lure tourists to Azerbaijan and Russia from Australia, China, the United States, European Union and many other regions of the world.
This agreement offers for joint development of optimal routes for cruise ships in the Black Sea, inland waterways in Russia and the Caspian Sea.
And it also includes ports in Moscow Astrakhan, Baku, Makhachkala, Anzali, Turkmenbashi and Nowshahr.
These companies cooperate on joint investment projects. This includes the joint operation of Peter the Great cruise vessel and the construction of new cruise ships.
‘Peter the Great’ is presently being built in Russia’s Lotos shipyard that is based in Astrakhan. This cruise vessel would be featuring spas, gyms, sun decks, bars and also a beautiful swimming pool and a Jacuzzi.
The companies would also be working together to develop coastal infrastructure and organize cruise tours including customs, sanitary control facilities, berts, bunkering and supply services.
‘Peter the Great’ that is a Russian cruise liner is slated to start cruising from the capital of Azerbaijan named Baku in 2019.
Initially the vessel would be sailing between Astrakhan and Baku and then from 2020 to other Russian cities.
