Airbus launches Iflya380 Augmented Reality iOS app enabling passengers to start a stress-free journey

Airbus has launched a new iflyA380 augmented reality iOS app, an enhancement to its existing iflyA380.com booking assistant website. The app allows users to start a stress-free journey with the comfort and quality the A380 provides by searching and booking their A380 flights, as available via Airbus’ ifly380 website, with innovative augmented reality features.
With 98 percent positive comments received from passengers*, the A380 has been awarded Best Aircraft Type by Global Traveller magazine for two years. The world’s largest passenger plane offers accessible luxury, comfort and convenience for passengers regardless of which  class they  fly. It’s a home away from home that makes long-haul flights a pleasure rather than a chore. Passengers are spoilt by generous space and dimensions with the widest seats in the sky, on-board bars and lounges, beds and even shower facilities with under-floor heating.**
While passengers were previously accustomed to starting their journey by booking the destination of their flight, followed by their departure time and accordingly an airline, globe-trotters who want a high-quality flight experience can now choose to fly with A380 aircraft first, and then look into the airlines and other criteria.
iflyA380.com is an online booking assistant that features the first and only flight search system that sorts results by aircraft type. Travellers can browse all A380 flights, explore all A380 destinations, and discover the distinctive on-board services that world-class airlines offer in every class. Users simply select their departure location, destination, and travel dates. The search results show all relevant flights on the A380, indicating carrier, price and itinerary. After selecting a preferred flight, users are automatically redirected to the carrier’s website to finalise the booking.
The newly launched iflyA380 augmented reality iOS app further enhances the iflyA380.com booking assistant with new possibilities to interact with the A380. Booking flights and staying updated with real-time notifications is just the beginning. Travellers will also enjoy a wide range of exclusive innovative services linked to the A380, including the option to explore destinations based on geolocation and personal interests and cabin discovery in Virtual Reality. They will also enjoy a connected and immersive in-flight experience based on an Augmented Reality feature, for example, taking a sneak peek at the cockpit.
“Response to the iflyA380.com website has been fantastic” says Marc Fontaine, Airbus Digital Transformation Officer. “The iflyA380 app is a new step for Airbus towards offering digital services that directly benefit consumers and allow them to design their own experiences.”
The A380 is now flying more than 120 routes to 60 destinations with 13 airlines. Hong Kong is one of the top airports for A380 services, with flights operated by eight carriers to destinations including Bangkok, Dubai, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Seoul, Singapore and Sydney.
