According to the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA ) around 133 million tourists traveled around the country during the three-day holiday and it generated 75.5 billion yuan (about 11.6 billion U.S. dollars) of revenue.
An increase of 11.08 percent and 11.22 percent year on year respectively was observed by the two figure, CNTA mentioned.
Rural tourism and snow and ice-related tourism were popular among tourists and so far the market remained stable.
However, the booming tourism saw busy traffic.
It was noted as per China Railway Corporation on Sunday, 8.732 million passengers traveled by train, 17.3 percent higher year on year.
The company added 261 temporary trains Monday to cater to the growing demand.
In 2016 China’s domestic tourism industry earned about 3.9 trillion yuan and the country plans to raise tourism revenue to 7 trillion yuan by 2020.
The nation will collectively work to develop tourism into a major driver of economic transformation.
Investment in tourism is expected to grow to 2 trillion yuan by 2020.
It is expected that the sector will contribute more than 12 percent of GDP growth, according to a State Council five-year tourism plan (2016-2020).
