Laurus Corporation Opens Hotel Talisa, Vail
Laurus Corporation has opened Hotel Talisa, Vail in Colorado. The 285-room luxury hotel, formerly Vail Cascade Resort and Spa, underwent a $60-million-plus renovation and rebrand. Hotel Talisa will remain under the management of Two Roads Hospitality and will be the first ski destination property in North America to join The Luxury Collection.
Hotel Talisa offers three culinary venues, each sourcing ingredients from local Colorado ranchers and farmers. Gessner, the hotel’s full-service restaurant, features cuisine inspired by the Colorado Rockies as well as Vail’s roots in European culture. At the center of the property is The Fireside Bar and Lounge, while The Market offers guests specialty gourmet provisions and beverages.
New to the property, The Spa at Hotel Talisa follows in the footsteps of traditional alpine spas, embracing both the natural splendor and healing powers of the surrounding mountain and creek in and indoor/outdoor setting. Hotel guests also have access to the resort’s 58,000-sq.-ft. adjoining athletic club in addition to the new fitness center within the hotel. The hotel also has over 40,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space.
In addition to downhill and cross-country skiing and snowboarding, guests of Hotel Talisa can take part in a wide array of activities year-round including mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and more.
Hotel Indigo Opens in Frisco, TX
Hotel Indigo Frisco has opened in Frisco, TX, marking the city’s first boutique hotel, according to the company. MDM F T LLC recently purchased the new hotel, which was built by local developer Dabu Hotels LLC. The owner has selected KPartners Hotel Management to manage the property.
The pet-friendly hotel is close to the Frisco Convention Center, Dr. Pepper Arena—home of the Dallas Stars and Texas Legends—Stonebriar Mall and Ford Star Center. It offers a full-service restaurant, Parlour Social Lounge, two meeting rooms with a combined 1,086 sq. ft. of meeting space; an outdoor pool, a fitness facility and onsite parking.
All 110 rooms pay homage to the local Frisco heritage with murals of cotton, railroad tracks, Texas wildflowers and the steam locomotive. The hotel lobby features decor, murals and other artwork that combine the area’s rich history with today’s modern times.
Hospitality Lodging System Adds Six Properties
Atlanta-based Hospitality Lodging Systems continues to grow its network of hotels with the opening of six new properties—two under the Budgetel brand and four under the AmeriVu brand. These hotels include the 280-room Budgetel in Chattanooga, TN, which has become the largest Budgetel property; the 151-room Budgetel in Yuma, AZ, a former Americas Best Value Inn (ABVI); the 43-room AmeriVu in Hayward, WI, a rebranded ABVI; the 42-room AmeriVu in Pierre du Chien, WI, a former Best Western hotel; the 40-room AmeriVu in Lomira, WI, a former Country Hearth Inn; and the 40-room AmeriVu in Cumberland, WI, a former independent hotel.
G6 Hospitality Welcomes New Studio 6
G6 Hospitality has opened its newest Studio 6 location in Plano, TX. Owned by franchisee Dinesh (Danny) Patel, the fully renovated, extended-stay property comprises 91 rooms across three floors and features elements of the brand’s “Phoenix” design. Along with a fitness center, lobby sitting area and marketplace for guests to use, this full renovation also features rooms with sleek wood-effect flooring, flat-screen televisions, pedestal beds, granite bathroom countertops, and a bold color scheme. Additionally, the Studio 6 Plano rooms offer a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator, and cookware, expanded cable and WiFi.
Residence Inn Opens in Sunny Isles Beach, FL
Residence Inn Miami Sunny Isles Beach has opened. The $65-million new hotel is home to 194 all-studio suites. Kobi Karp Architecture & Interior Design took the helm in designing the property, infusing the hotel’s design and architecture with a clean, crisp and sophisticated aesthetic. International art advisor Dina Mitrani of Dina Mitrani Gallery assembled a collection of world-renowned artists with deep roots in Miami to create a collection of contemporary works throughout the hotel.
Ocean View on Nine is the hotel’s poolside restaurant, featuring both indoor and outdoor dining options. There is also a complimentary hot breakfast. If guests prefer to spend the night in, the hotel provides a grocery delivery service and also has a 24-hour onsite food and beverage market.
The property also has three flexible conference spaces and two rooftop decks, totaling more than 9,000 sq. ft.
HVMG Converts Former Hilton Suites to Embassy Suites by Hilton
Hospitality Ventures Management Group (HVMG) has completed conversion of the former Hilton Phoenix Suites to the 242-suite Embassy Suites by Hilton Phoenix Downtown North. HVMG, which purchased the hotel in 2016 as part of a joint venture, will continue to operate the property.
“Our familiarity with the market and hotel provided us the insight to realize both the property and our guests would benefit from a full reimagining,” said Robert Cole, HVMG president and CEO. “With properties in California, Colorado, Texas and Oklahoma, we continue to invest heavily West of the Mississippi in hotels in markets with barriers to new entry that can benefit from repositioning, as well as our proprietary management and marketing systems.”
Located at 10 East Thomas Rd., the hotel is adjacent to the Thomas/Central Metro Light Rail Station, making the property accessible to Chase Field, Talking Stick Arena and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Suites offer separate private sleeping and living spaces, complimentary WiFi and 55-in. flat-screen televisions. The hotel features a fitness center, indoor heated pool, business center and 4,350 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space. Dining options include American-inspired cuisine at Salt River Tavern, free made-to-order breakfast and a nightly evening reception at the Atrium Bar.
Magnuson Rebrands Three Properties
Magnuson Worldwide has rebranded three properties: Magnuson Hotel Fort Wayne North in Indiana, rebranded from a Howard Johnson; the Magnuson Hotel Jacksonville Downtown in Florida, formerly a Super 8; and the Magnuson Grand Desoto in Texas, formerly a Clarion.
The Magnuson Hotel Fort Wayne North is near the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, the Northcrest Shopping Center and Glenbrook Square Shopping Mall.
The Magnuson Hotel Jacksonville Downtown is located close to Everbank Field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars, as well as the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and the San Marco District.
Located 11 miles from downtown Dallas and 22 miles from Arlington, the Magnuson Grand DeSoto is near the Dallas Convention Center, Cowboys Stadium, Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.
