It is now tending that the Nanjie, located in central part of Henan province in People Republic of China is visited by the tourist and becomes one of the cynosure for the international tourists as it is the last Maoist village and the village life now also glorious past of Communist regime.
A most amazing fact is that there are about 3,700 residents wake up every morning to broadcasts praising Mao- Tse-Tung and start their work days with a hearty group rendition of “red” songs about the virtues of Communism.
The people in the village of Nanjie follows a retro model of collectively-owned enterprises and vivacious ideological indoctrination, which is appearing frozen in an era before market reforms transformed China into the second largest economy in the world.
The tourists take small red trams with names like “Moderate Prosperity” and “Chinese Dream” from the giant Mao statue in the town’s iconic “East is Red Square” to parks, factories and public housing blocks where residents share stories about the joys of collectivism.
Recently, this village is in hotlist by the nostalgia seekers who have been replaced by local officials and party members “coming to study the Nanjie spirit.
Now the residents of Nanjie live in modest public apartments, identical right down to the furniture and flat screen TVs.
Nanjie is now alluring more than 500,000 visitors a year for the presence of China’s glorious political past.
While officials of Nanjie said that the tourism in this small hamlet of Central Henan makes only a small contribution to Nanjie’s economy. But the contribution is an asset that earns it the support of top politicians, as well as the general public.
