British tourists might face 10 years in prison for carrying e-cigarette to Thailand.

As vaping has been banned in the Land of Smiles in 2014, which is little known to the holidaymakers, they might face prosecution or might be fined or even sent to jail.

According to the Foreign Office, this South-East Asian country is one of the popular choices amongst the backpackers and the gap-year students given its accessibility and affordability.

The experts and the Foreign Office website states: “You can’t bring vaporisers (like e-cigarettes and e-baraku) or refills into Thailand. “These items are likely to be confiscated and you could be fined or sent to prison for up to 10 years if convicted.

“The sale or supply of e-cigarettes and similar devices is also banned and you could face a heavy fine or up to five years imprisonment if found guilty. Several British Nationals have been arrested for possession of vaporisers and e-cigarettes.”

Thailand has been under military rule since 2014 and there are strict rules in place that govern aspects of everyday life that Britons may not be aware of.

There are some other unusual laws that tourists should be aware of when travelling to certain places. For instance, tourists should not wear camouflage clothing in the Caribbean, should not display affection in public in Dubai, should not take photos without permission in North Korea, should not litter in Thailand or Singapore.
