Korean Air will launch its 24th travel photo contest from July 24th to September 1st, 2017. “Korean Air Travel Photo Contest” is one of the most renowned photo contest in Korea. Every year, participants submit marvelous photos, featuring beautiful scenery of nature or people’s lives in different parts of the country.
This year’s competition is divided into two categories – General Awards and Special Awards. The General Awards will open acceptance for photos starting July 24th while the Special Awards has completed accepting entries from March to June 2017. The General Awards is set for photos capturing special memories from any kind of travel experience. Special Awards themed ‘Zoom up Pyeongchang’ was aimed to gather photos under the topic, but not limited to the beauty of the four seasons, nature, culture or art of Gangwon province. Gangwon province provided wholehearted support to the event in order to strengthen public awareness on its destinations as well as to wish great success for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
Coming to its 24th anniversary, the competition hopes to provide useful information for tourists visiting Korea, by producing various photography contents related to traveling. Furthermore, the airline is planning to utilize the award-winning photographs this year to design postcards, which will be distributed at the photo exhibitions afterwards.
Those who are passionate in photography and travel can submit entries to the ‘Korean Air Travel Photo Contest’ and all photos must be unpublished work globally. Participants can submit photos through the contest website (photo.koreanair.com) and details are provided on the contest website.
A total of 70 winners will be selected by a judging panel consisting of photography professors and professional photographers. The Grand Prize winner will receive two international Prestige Class round-trip tickets and two domestic Economy Class round-trip tickets from Korean Air. Other winners will receive plaques and tickets as rewards.
An award ceremony will be held on October 19th 2017 at Ilwoo Space in the Korean Air Building, located near to the Seoul City Hall. Award-winning photos will be exhibited in Seoul (Ilwoo Space), Jeju Island and Daegu respectively, and selected photos will be showcased in the 2018 Korean Air calendar as illustration.
