Italy is Armenia’s one of the principal trade-economic partners. In an interview, Armenia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Italy Victoria Baghdasaryan talked about current stage of Armenia-Italy relations, as well as joint programs and issues related to the Armenian community.
She said that Armenia and Italy relations share deep roots and age-old history based on common value system. In the last 25 years, Armenia-Italy relations have developed with spirit of friendship and understanding with a number of achievements. There is a lot of cooperation in bilateral ties, including in the field of defense, parliamentary diplomacy, culture, trade-economic, local self-governance etc.
On May 16th, a forum dedicated to the 25th anniversary for the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Italy was held in the Senate of Italy by Armenia-Italy inter-parliamentary friendship group and the Armenian Embassy. This forum was called, “Armenia 25 years: challenges and prospects”, and was attended by diplomats, political figures and representatives of community structures of Italy.
Both Armenia and Italy are also actively cooperating in culture and an agreement was signed for establishing a regional center for maintenance of cultural heritage. It will be implemented soon.
