American Airlines has recently scrapped its plans to squeeze the distance between the passenger rows on the new carriers it is about to purchase.
This Texas-based airline had once stated that it would minimize the seat pitch on its new Boeing 737 Max aircrafts to a 29 inches spacing in some of its rows, down from its existent 30 inches that is really uncomfortable for its travellers,
Now, it has declared that it would be installing those rows about 30 inches apart.
An inch might not be sounding like too much.
However, its significance is much broader. The airline made the change in response to public discontentment to its proposal of shrinking its legroom. American Airlines had introduced the transition after it received negative feedback from customers and also employees. The travellers complained that they would be feeling less valued when they fly, if the leg space is reduced to such an extent.
Therefore, the flier has decided to make things convenient for travellers.
American has planned to boost the pitch on the new planes by doing away with some economy-plus seats that possess extra legroom and replacing them with regular economy seats. Actually, the airliner would be sacrificing revenue from higher-paying customers to make room for those in coach.
